Sabine Simon: Attempts and Arrangements to the Topic „Light up“
Looking for a way to start my phenomenological investigation, I came across some photos ofconstruction sites I had made during the corona crises 2020 as I travelled south. I noticed that my perception was constantly switching between form and content while watching the construction sites and their surroundings. Sometimes I was touched by the situations I discovered. Another time I was only looking for forms and the colors and movements within. After I had taken a photo of a main street where the road guidance was completely changed by fences, I started to play with the emerging lines and curves and hung a series of identical photos one below the other. The result was a kind of ornament. In the next step I took the photo of the man with his blue bag and the crane behind. This photo ended where the „ornament“ started – just around the corner, where the infrarstructure takes on more and more space. For me, the link between the two photos was the IKEA bag and the things you can buy or collect and carry in it from one place to another. Or not.

Auf der Suche nach einem Einstieg für meine phänomenologische Untersuchung stieß ich auf Baustellenfotos, die ich während der Corona Krise auf der Reise nach Süden gemacht hatte. Ich stellte fest, dass meine Wahrnehmung bei der Betrachtung der Baustellen und ihrer Umgebung ständig zwischen Form und Inhalt wechselte. Manchmal war ich berührt von den Situationen, die ich entdeckte. Ein andermal suchte ich nur nach Formen und den Farben und Bewegungen darin. Nachdem ich ein Foto von einer Hauptstraße gemacht hatte, bei der die Straßenführung komplett durch Zäune verändert war, begann ich mit den Linien und Kurven zu spielen, die sich daraus ergaben und hängte eine Reihe von gleichen Fotos untereinander. Das Ergebnis war eine Art Ornament. Im nächsten Schritt nahm ich das Foto von dem Mann mit seiner blauen Tasche und dem Krahn dahinter. Dieses Foto endete dort, wo das „Ornament“ begann – gleich um die Ecke, wo die Infrastruktur immer mehr Raum greift. Das verbindende Element der beiden Fotos war für mich die IKEA-Tasche mit den Dingen, die man kaufen oder sammeln und darin von Ort zu Ort tragen kann. Oder nicht.

As physical education teacher Sabine Simon soon started to be more interested in bodylanguage and choreografie. In consequence she studied New Dance, improvisation and performance. Thereafter she discovered the world of theatre during six years from the inside of a three-division house (acting, musical theatre/concert, dance theatre). After moving to a metropole region she felt attracted by the local and international puppet play scene on site where at that time different teachers offered a wide range of possibilities to show how creating subtile atmospheres and building up stories out of it. Against this backround she started to question Zeitgeist and decided to study Fine Arts at HKS Ottersberg (MFA, Arts and Community).
Als Sport- und Gymnastiklehrerin interessierte sich Sabine Simon schon bald mehr für Körpersprache und Choreografie. Deshalb studierte sie Neuen Tanz, Improvisation und Performance. Danach entdeckte sie die Welt des Theaters sechs Jahre lang an einem Drei-Sparten-Hauses (Schauspiel, Musiktheater/Konzert, Tanztheater) von Innen. Nach dem Umzug in eine Metropolregion fühlte sie sich von der lokalen und internationalen Figurentheaterszene angezogen, wo zu der Zeit unterschiedliche Lehrer eine große Auswahl an Möglichkeiten bereitstellten, um aufzuzeigen, wie subtile Atmosphären geschaffen werden können, aus denen heraus sich Geschichten entwickeln lassen. Vor diesem Hintergrund begann sie, Zeitgeist zu hinterfragen und entschied sich, Freie Kunst an der HKS Ottersberg (MFA, Arts and Community) zu studieren.
